podcast + audiobook update

today i’m bringing you an update on some of the podcasts i’ve been adding to my binge-list, as well as a few audiobooks i’ve been listening to. let’s start with the books, shall we?

genius foods | max lugavere : first of all, i’d listen to anything max reads because he has a very nice voice to listen to. he could be reading me the manual for my vacuum and i’d probs listen. regardless, this book is well written, with tons of [digestible, no pun intended] science to back it up. i have found myself incorporating these genius foods into my everyday life, and feeling better about what i eat. anything i can do to keep my brain and body happy and healthy!

body love | kelly leveque : speaking of digestible science, if kelly leveque started a cult, i’d join. i drank the kool aid [well, the fab4smoothie]. i realize i’ve talked about this book before, but i’m listening to it again, because it is chock full of nutritional goodness and tips i can implement in my daily life. she has a new book coming out soon, which i am VERY excited for!

crushing it! | gary vaynerchuk : lauryn evartswhen i heard my girl was going to be in this, i HAD to download a copy. gary is a total entrepreneurial and biz guru, and i highly recommend. this book is easy to follow with tangible advice.

i would love to start reading at night, since i grew up a voracious reader, but in this season of life, i’m just t i r e d when i get to bed. i am usually out within minutes, so audiobooks are my go to right now.

i’m still in love with podcasts, and my long commute coupled with my penchant for binge listening means that i’m always on the hunt for new series. good news is there are a TON of good podcasts out there. i’ve recently switched up my routine, and while i still listen to business or wellness podcasts in the morning, i found that listening to true crime podcasts really helps me relax on the way home. here are a few biz/wellness/mindset podcasts i’ve recently gotten into:

skimm’d from the couch : i love these ladies. i’ve been a fan of the skimm from the beginning, and they are AMAZING interviewers. their dynamic and real life experience on what it takes to build a brand means that they’re constantly interviewing the right people and asking the right questions.

how i built this : i might have included this one in my last roundup, but it’s that good. guy raz has a great voice, and he is an expert at playing off of his interviewees answers. he looks at some of the biggest and most socially relevant brands today and figures out, well, how they built this. if you want a dose of grit + smarts, this podcast is for sure one you need to listen to.

ok, now on to my new true crime faves. to be honest, the reason i branched into this genre is because jac vanek from the ladygang started a crime podcast, so of course i had to listen.

the first degreejac vanek of the ladygang brings in two cohosts that work in true crime journalism, and they feature crimes where they have been able to interview someone that was one degree away from the crime. they started off with one that involved people from the old vh1 reality shows, so i was hooked from the get-go. good if you like a crime podcast that won’t give you nightmares

casefile : guys, this one is my favorite. i have to say, though, i’m the kind of person that can watch law and order: svu and criminal minds before bed and not be bothered one bit. i feel like you need to be on that level to truly appreciate this podcast. it’s narrated by an anonymous australian man, and the fact that he’s anonymous makes it that much more eerie [seriously, follow @casefilehost on twitter if you don’t believe me]. they feature true crimes from around the world, and the reporting and writing is spot on. if you’re a true crime junkie, this is probably my biggest suggestion.

there you have it! all of the things i’m listening to these days. oh, and if you missed it, i pulled together #allofthethings i’ve been wanting for this fall. happy wednesday, friends!
