my go-to 2nd trimester work looks

when it comes to dressing the bump, one thing i’ve been struggling with is how to balance being professional with being comfortable, especially in a ‘dress for your day’ setting. for me, on a normal day, that means i’m wearing dresses, denim + sweaters, or blazers. i’ve been relying on blazers and jackets a lot more lately during my pregnancy, mostly because it’s more of a “formula” i can follow [i am a numbers girl, after all :)]. good maternity jeans + trusty maternity tanks + blazer. add some cute – but comfy – booties and voila! you have a foolproof office look. i’ll be honest, i really feel for you pregnant ladies that work in a business professional office setting. from what i’ve found, the options for maternity work pants are not the greatest. i’m super thankful that i can wear [nice] denim and not be out of place.

anyways, i wanted to take today to highlight some of my favorite blazers and the retailers that carry the ones i prefer. i’ve found that when i’m pregnant, my weight fluctuates enough that i am not one of those cute “belly band only!” ladies that can fit into everything that they already own. enter the blazer – it doesn’t have to fit over my belly, meaning i can utilize a lot of my non-maternity ones and know that they will fit.

j.crew is always a go-to for me when it comes to staple pieces that will stand the test of time. i can always count on them for classics [the regent blazer or the parke blazer] as well as some of those funkier pieces with a twist. if you’re a young professional, these definitely fall into that “investment piece” category, but i’m here to tell you that they last FOREVER. i have one from college i still wear on a regular basis, and my mom just passed along a collection one from a few years ago that i know will be in my wardrobe forevermore.

when i want something trendy, but don’t want to invest a ton of money, i’ll turn to h&m. lately i’ve actually been really impressed with the quality, making me want to frequent there even more. the great thing about some of the more recent pieces i’ve picked up is that they don’t need to be dry cleaned. a few of the blazers i’ve linked are knit, meaning i can wash and dry as normal [WIN!]

a couple of other places i’ve found cute jackets is nordstrom, lulus, and asos. all three are places i check regularly to see what interesting items come though [i liken it to how my husband keeps up with sports — i keep up with new arrivals ha!]. anywhere else i should be looking for good, cute jackets/blazers/office-wear? let me know!
