guys! you guys know how obsessed i am with the #fab4smoothie [and kelly leveque in general … girl is a down-to earth relatable genius] and since having a little that’s been diagnosed as tree-nut free, i’ve been trying to experiment with recipes that she can have a sip of here and there. today’s recipe was one i created, not uber excited about [i love nut butter, especially trader joe’s mixed nut butter], but it turns out it is quickly one of my favorites.
if you remember, the whole premise of the fab 4 smoothie is to have ample amounts protein // fat // fiber // greens, and this smoothie recipe delivers that AND tastes great. check it out!
- protein: dr. axe chocolate collagen protein powder
- fat: sunflower butter [was not super excited about this, but the texture and taste are great!!!!]
- fiber: chia seeds [i just eyeball it]
- greens: frozen spinach [i freeze the ends of my bags that i might not get all the way through so that i don’t have to add as much ice]. with my greens, i add as much as i can possibly fit to maximize the greens i can get into my day.
- coconut milk
- hemp seeds [optional, i have started to add them in after i am done blending because they add a nice texture]
- blueberries [frozen, also optional. i added them this time around for some added antioxidants and fiber, but i definitely don’t always need to add any fruit to my smoothies]
like i said, i typically like to use nut butters or sometimes throw some pb2 in there, but i skipped it this time so that logan could have some if she wanted.
let me know if you’ve tried making any of these recipes, or if you have any faves! i love seeing what other people are putting in their smoothies.
